Since 2004, the Children’s Waiting Room has provided a free, supervised care service for children from birth to 12 years old, offering a safe and welcoming environment for families with business at the Kane County Judicial Center.

Located on the lower level of the Judicial Center, this facility was created by the Kane County Bar Foundation to address the needs of children in a courthouse setting. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2024, the Children’s Waiting Room has cared for over 42,000 children since it opened, helping families feel more comfortable during court visits. The service is free, with operational costs covered by a small fee assessed on civil cases, as permitted by state law.
